I called it for years but now it’s official: Digg is now in the shitter.

Digg.com used to be awesome back in 2005 when it had much fewer users and it only covered technology. I got all my tech news from there and stayed on top of everything. But then it got absolutely huge, and they expanded categories, and people started submitting stupidity, such as OMGz look at this cat picture. In addition, Digg became so popular that power users took over and controlled the content. It was no longer the common man voting up stories. It became all corporate and the top 5% controlled 50% of the site’s content. I had to look elsewhere for tech news.

Then Kevin Rose took over and duked it out with former CEO Jay Addleson. As soon as Jay stepped down and Kevin took over as CEO, he reverted half of Jay’s work and flipped out

Kevin tried to turn Digg into Apple. Except, unlike Apple, everyone hated the new product.

So Digg v4 launched, and people hated the shit out of it. So what do they do? Digg all the content on reddit, another social news/ voting website. So all of the top stories on Digg right now redirect to Reddit. Nice.

This is almost as bad as that time Kevin Rose tried to censor the HD DVD decryption key. People kept submitting it and every single article was all about it. Same thing now with Reddit. No one learns from history?

Used to idolize that guy, not gonna lie. But he really doesn’t know what the hell is going on anymore. And he’s a Mac fanboy, so more strikes against him.

R.I.P Digg 2005-2009

Guess what? People are fucking morons and don’t understand the internet. Switching to private browsing won’t protect you from shit at work. It protects the local history on your computer. Last I checked, you shouldn’t be letting anyone on your account anyway, so it doesn’t matter what history is there. Don’t you all know that WebSense/8e3 or whatever other blocking/monitoring software your employer has will see what pages you visit anyway*? No? Then you’re a dumb shit.

Did you ever add pictures, music, ringtones or sounds to your SD card and have it not show up in the Gallery, ringtone list or media player? Happens all the time. The phone needs to add them to the database, which usually only happens on reboot. But let’s face it: it takes forever to reboot.

So SDRescan! Run it after you add stuff to your card and bam, your media will now show up without rebooting.

Well it was too long anyway so here’s short bullets of what would happen if the iPhone came to Verizon:

• Droid Sales will crash – everyone wants the iPhone and Verizon people are getting the Droids because they’re the next best thing (they’re not like me and genuinely think Android is a better OS)
• Mass Exodus of Customers from AT&T – AT&T sucks, can’t make calls and people only use them because of the iPhone. Period
• Verizon Gets Tiered Data Plans – Once again, the abundance of smartphones will strain the network, so there go the unlimited plans.

This sucks.

I’m not saying they got it perfect, but it’s much improved. They added events, made it look better and all of that.

What’s missing:

• Facebook chat
• Te ability to view tagged photos of me or another person (this one kills me because I can only look at my or other peoples’ albums)
• Tagging photos from the device

What the fuck is the point of this stupid piece of shit?

You know what’s a pain in the ass about laptops? Fucking touchpads.  You need to get used to them because each one is different and they generally suck. They’re only there for convenience and they’re better than that stupid nipple trackpoint mouse (SFW) that IBM used to use back in the day. In four years, trackpads fucking wear out.

Then you get Apple which releases this “stylish” stupid piece of shit. Please explain to me why anyone with a desktop would want to put a freakin touchpad on it? And wireless to eat through expensive batteries? Who would also waste $69 on something so useless? You’ll get carpal tunnel using that pitched piece of crap.

On Thursday, my news feeds from the tech sites I read daily all blew up with the announcement of this fucking contraption. Of the 4 tech blogs I subscribe to on my RSS there had to be at least 12 bloggers write 20 posts about it. It almost made me rage. I was trying to read Barstool’s guess that ass, check out the smokeshow of the day and smut news in general but all I saw was this stupid thing.

This touchpad isn’t even revolutionary since it’s been done before. Apple just took the concept and put multitouch and bluetooth in it and released it knowing stupid brainwashed morons will buy it.

Then you get this jerkoff Apple fanboy MG Siegler over at TechCrunch who writes an article that the mouse is dead because of this revolutionary new product, and how kids growing up only use trackpads so the mouse will die. Next, people call him an asshole and Mr. Flip Flop took it all back was like “Yeah, it’s going to be a slow process, but the mouse will still die. It’s just a mouse – stop complaining. Oh, and it’s still amazing.” What an asshole.

NEWS FLASH MG Shithead: How do you play games on a touchpad? How do you edit audio with precision? Video? You can’t.  The mouse is far from dead. You have these $80 laser precision 6000DPI mice that are way beyond my need or comprehension and you want everyone to switch to a half assed touchpad? What are we going backwards? Touchpads are good for laptops and touchscreens are the future for mobile platforms. But not desktops. Period.

Apple never fails to make me rage.

If you don't have FiOS, lets be serious. Your internet just fucking sucks!

That’s what the fuck I’m talking about, bitches. You wish your internet was this fast. I don’t care if Jimmy next door is torrenting his ass off , Jill down the block is downloading gigs of ponies and Marvin is streaming OnDemand all day: my speed stays constant, unlike cable which gets shitty when everyone on the same node is using it.

I just did a speedtest from John’s dedicated server on Optimum Online and it got 5MBPS when they promise you 15. Suckkkkks. 5MBPS was so 2005. Oh and what’s that weak ass upload shit that varies between 1-2MBPS. Awful

I usually say F you to Optimum Online and ramble about how it sucks but actually, I applaud them for their arrogant cutthroat marketing campaign. If they didn’t bash FiOS 24/7, Verizon wouldn’t raise the speed since there would be nothing to compete with. They’re actually bashing something that is technologically superior to their system. So thanks for the competition. Verizon’s like: “Okay, want to compete? We’ll just boost the shit out of everyone’s speed. You can’t do that.

So if you’re in a FiOS area, you’re a dumbass not to get it. You can basically negotiate yourself higher internet speeds, a better TV package and a lower rate.

Don’t expect an iTunes/Winamp/Media Player replacement over here. It plays the videos in a ghetto ass java window, and it plays music on your PC in the background (you can’t see it from your computer). Hell you can even install it on your sibling’s computer and mess with him/her.  Anyway, this works well if you’re lazy like me and don’t want to get up.

This app also has a touchpad mode to control your mouse, so you can use it to advance PowerPoint presentations (seems like a waste of phone battery to me, since the screen would need to stay on).

Do I use it all the time? Nope. But it’s something cool to have that works well, especially when I get a new laptop with HDMI out and want to watch stuff on my TV.
