Well I Messed Up Again
Yeah I wrote a whole thing about what would happen if the iPhone came to Verizon and it disappeared. This must be user error because this is the third time I lost content when writing on this blog. It doesn’t save in realtime (it does do autosaves every 5 or 10 minutes but that’s shitty). What happens is that I have ADD and multiple revisions open so the blank ones save, I press publish and it messes up.
Well it was too long anyway so here’s short bullets of what would happen if the iPhone came to Verizon:
- Droid Sales will crash – everyone wants the iPhone and Verizon people are getting the Droids because they’re the next best thing (they’re not like me and genuinely think Android is a better OS)
- Mass Exodus of Customers from AT&T – AT&T sucks, can’t make calls and people only use them because of the iPhone. Period
- Verizon Gets Tiered Data Plans – Once again, the abundance of smartphones will strain the network, so there go the unlimited plans.
This sucks.

I don’t think Droid sales will crash. There are several reasons for this. First of all Verizon is much more interested in Android then they are then the iPhone. Second of all Android phones are hands down superior devices spec wise. The iPhone will never catch up and if it does a month later they will have fallen behind again – It’s a simple fact… Countless manufactures have a lot more potential, time, and resources then just one.
I can’t find any solid numbers for total iPhone sales, but its a lot. ie A lot of users locked into 2 year contracts. Beyond that people that don’t have a iPhone, but are on AT&T probably are not all that concerned with getting one. The downfalls of a the iPhone become very small when you are on AT&T already – These people simply are not interested in the iPhone on AT7T or Verizon.
As far as tiered data plans go… I won’t argue this will happen, but I will vehemently disagree that if it does happen that it would be caused by the iPhone becoming part of Verizon’s network. I would welcome the iPhone to Verizon. Innovation is key, and innovation is much slower with out direct competition.

@Anthony True. It’s because they have like 4.5″ monster screens and stream movies. To me, that’s a bit unnecessary.
