Internet Explorer 7 Sucks

Since IE6 is such an inferior piece of crap, the fools at Microsoft decided that its time to release a new version of Internet Explorer. A few days ago, Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 was released and I got a hold of it somehow. They added useless features and utter ugliness.

Microsoft decided to add tabs but at first, they were skeptical. Here’s a quote from IE product unit manager Dean Hachamovitch: “Some people have asked why we didn’t put tabs in IE sooner. Initially, we had some concerns around complexity and consistency–will it confuse users more than it benefits them? Is it confusing if IE has tabs, but other core parts of the Windows experience, like Windows Media Player or the shell, don’t have tabs?”

This ignoramus works for Microsoft? What’s he on crack? What the hell does he mean that Windows Media Player or the Windows shell does not have tabs? Go into the options in Windows Media Player or any other M$ product like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, even the IE6 options – they all are tabbed. And if you are not counting the options dialog boxes, then if you want tabs go into Excel and look on the bottom – Sheet 1 Sheet2 and Sheet 3 – TABS. So tabs are part of the shell and widely used.

And here’s my other complaints about IE7:

  • The quick search in the top-right is stolen from Firefox
  • The organization sucks: The only buttons on the address bar are forward and backward. All other useful buttons like home, stop and refresh are scattered elsewhere. You need to look all over the place for them.
  • The address bar is locked at the top of the screen. You can’t move it. Traditionally, the File Edit etc… menu should be there. In 99% of other programs the menu is on top not hidden under other ugly toolbars. Firefox is customizable – you can change its looks to your liking.
  • The tabs show up regardless of whether or not you are using tabbed windows.
  • EVERYTHING IS UGLY! (The tabs suck, the open new tab button is an ugly gray block etc)
  • It’s even uglier if you have the XP theme off and have the Windows Classic Theme on.
  • MS has you paranoid about phishing (faking legitimate sites and trying to steal your information). Every time I got to a site it attempts to do a phishing check, which takes a long time. I disabled automatic phishing check but it still puts an exclamation on the bottom saying it doesn’t trust my site (portfolioso.com)…
  • Favicon support stinks (the icons on the tabs/in the address bar) For some reason, if you check out my screenshots below, the google favicon is displayed on the tabs but the portfolioso favicon is not. Firefox never has any favicon problems…
  • RSS Feed support… It’s decent but Firefox has a better idea with the live bookmark feature.

This is only beta 1, but it sucks. If IE7 is anything remotely like the beta, then I’m still using Firefox. Actually, scratch that. I’ll ALWAYS use Firefox, no matter what M$ does to IE…

K-Rock Sucks

It’s been a few months since K-Rock modified their playlist, but I never got a chance to rant about it yet. It seems that instead of just modern alternative rock from the mid 80s to new music, they’re playing more classic rock and metal. Some of this is good, but if I want classic rock I’ll listen to 104.3. Not that classic rock is bad, some new things added are okay, but my point is – this is not a classic rock station. It was completely taken over by classic rock and 80s rock. I am just curious to see how they’re going to do the top 92.3 songs of 2005 if they don’t play anything new anymore! For example, one weekend every time I turned on the radio the only things I heard was Judas Priest, Black Sabbath or AC/DC.

The webmaster of krockradio.com and krock2.com must get fired immediately and they need to hire me instead. The website sucks! What kind of idiot has a navigation menu with text links where some text is not linked? Also, I’m pretty sure that all radio station websites have a playlist of the week’s most popular songs. They used to have that but now it’s gone – it’s on the navigation menu, but you can’t click it! Same thing with the Air-Staff Bios – those were removed also. There are five non-links that should be links – playlist, music news, what’s happening, air-staff and media. And KRock2’s website is just as horrible. The navigational links all link back to krock2.com. They use stupid streaming audio that forces you to use Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer sucks – learn to make sites compatible with browsers that don’t use crappy ActiveX controls. What kind of incompetent morons have such bad websites?

I purposely waited a few months to see if this is resolved, but it’s not. Oh well I can’t do anything about it.

pEopLE tHat TYPe LyK tHIs AnNoY mE

Anyone who types like that should have their computers smashed over their heads and deserve a lifelong internet ban. There is no reason whatsoever to type like such a moron. If there is a valid reason for any of this gibberish, please comment back and explain it to me, because I can’t figure out why people waste their energy pushing the shift key randomly to make some letters capital and some not.

Don’t Watch News at 3AM

I was watching Fox News at 3AM and came across a show called The Beltway Boys. What a dumb name for a news show. Anyway, it consisted of two old babbling men with stuttering problems. These idiots disagreed on every topic they discussed. The last time I checked, it was the Fox News Channel – not the Fox Debate Channel. These guys couldn’t go four words without forgetting what to say. “Uhhh.. Um… look.. yeah… uhhh.” Use a damn TelePrompter if you don’t know what to say! And if they know it’s going to be a debate, they should practice the topics before and jot down some notes so they don’t stumble like morons on the show.

Here is a 15 second audio clip from the show. It consists of one guy stuttering for the entire 15 seconds. Please explain to me if any coherent information can be extracted from this 15 second mess. The guy does not even make sense… Listen Here

This is why you don’t watch TV at 3AM – every other channel is an infomercial and they put dunces on all the news channels

G4TV Sucks

This is not new news, but I’m going back in time to prove my point. About a year and a half ago, there were two networks: TechTV and G4 TV. TechTV was more focused in on technology and computers, while G4 was devoted to gaming. Last year, they merged and formed G4Tech TV. G4 was getting bad ratings and was not being carried by many cable operators, so to get around this the two networks agreed to merge. Ok no big deal – it was about half TechTV Content and half G4 content. So for tech geeks like me, this was a shame, but was bearable. Some good shows liek Call for Help with Leo Laporte were cancelled to make room for crappy gaming shows. But here’s the kicker. Within the past few months, the last original TechTv show remaining on G4TechTv was cancelled – The Screensavers. So I was watching the network recently and looked at the logo and almost puked – the network recognizes itself as G4Tv. So therefore, any association with TechTV is being ignored. It is complete bs that the two networks merge and in the end, it is solely for the benefit of G4TV. It basically goes like this – G4 is uncool so the enter the cool crowd, become cool and then get rid of the original cool people in the group – leaving themselves (former uncool people) to be cool. Ok I’m going overboard with analogies… The completely used a popular network and I have no respect for anyone who watches this channel, so if you do, don’t talk to me. I think cable and satellite operators should not sign a contract to carry this piece of crap network because of this clever scheme they pulled.

So in geek speak, G4 took a TechTV particle and an Anti TechTV particle and crashed them into one another, annihilating TechTV and leaving G4 behind (this is why I win physics geek awards). This is a complete disgrace and aggravated the crap out of me. 😡

No one cares about a 24/7 channel about gaming. It’s completely boring. If you like games, there’s nothing wrong with it. Ok maybe a show or two reviewing new games is okay, but you don’t need game walkthrough shows. There are books for that.
