Verizon Wireless Voicemail Sucks
Part 2 in the series on ripping apart Verizon Wireless (even though I still like them): Their voicemail system sucks. It takes 4 years, has 400 menu options and never works right. When you go to leave someone a message, I have to wait an extra 25 seconds after their greeting is over to listen to the annoying woman telling me to talk after the beep or ask if I want to leave a callback number. 1) I already know I need to talk after the beep, this is how voicemail worked since 1983 and 2)What the hell is the point of leaving a callback number if you show up in my missed calls? There is a skip button for the greeting, but I always forget it because it’s different for every wireless company. And can’t we get a British woman to read the menu options? Their accents are hot. No, we get an annoying nag that grinds on my nerves.
Second annoyance: I call voicemail, listen to my message and hang up. Two seconds later, my phone is beeping, vibrating and flipping out that I have a new voicemail. Um no I don’t, I just listened to it idiot. The problem here is that Verizon only flags the message as old only if you listen to the whole thing OR press 9 to save or 7 to delete it. I never do this because it wastes my time. What the system should do is mark the message as old once you begin listening to it. Sometimes I get the jist of the message after 5 seconds and want to hang up and call back ASAP rather than hearing the person ramble on.
Fix it, Verizon.

Yes it does suck!!! I found this by googling Verizon Voicemail Sucks. Here’s why else it sucks: If you have saved messages, the stupid thing makes you listen to all your saved messages before letting you hear your new messages! And before each saved message, the female voice says very slowly:
“The following message will be deleted from your mailbox from 123-456-7890 sent Monday, June 20 at 8-0- PM.”
Then you have to click 9 to re-save it while the message is playing and it then moves to the next, with another long introduction from the automated female voice.
Then FINALLY when it gets to your new messages, it says yet ANOTHER message: “YOU HAVE ONE UN-HEARD MESSAGE. FIRST UN-HEARD MESSAGE.”
Geez! Sometimes it takes a full two minutes before I can get to my messages. And I save these messages because sometimes I need to go through them again. But instead I end up deleting them just so I don’t have to go through this crap. But when I have no saved messages, it still gives me the long, “YOU HAVE ONE UNHEARD MESSAGE. FIRST UN-HEARD MESSAGE.”
Get to the messages already!!!
Oh yeah, and it makes you enter a password. If somebody steals my phone, I have bigger problems then my fricking voicemail being protected.

Agreed. Is storage space is so expensive these days that Verizon can’t save all your messages? On their home/voip voicemail:
If you don’t hit delete fast enough on a new message, it moves on to the next LEAVING the short message as new.
It also moves from the new messages right into the old messages without warning. Very very annoying.
