Borat Soundboard

I decided to take some clips from Borat’s movie and create a soundboard with many well known Borat expressions. Enjoy and send me your prank calls. Unfortunately I have no idea how to work with flash, so I made a program out of it. The only drawbacks are the huge file size (embedded wavs) and it only works on Windows.

Download (11.7MB)

This is an image and it will not work on the website. You’ll have to download it and run it. (Yes it’s an exe, but I promise it’s safe)

Edit: Version 2.0 released –> More sounds, smaller file size and I also fixed some distorted sounds. Have Fun.

How to Be a Closet Physics Geek

Jess complained that this wasn’t on my site so now it is:

In order to be a closet physics geek, you must:

  • Calculate the distance from your house to Lake Isle using a stopwatch, your eyes, and your ears and fireworks
  • Talk to Mr. Gruber and Mr. Ross about Mythbusters during parties
  • Actually invite physics teachers to a party.
  • Get yelled at by friends for being too technical.
  • Get in trouble for doing physics.
  • Post about being a physics geek at 2 AM when you have to be up at 6AM
  • Explain how waves work while at the beach, or at a concert
  • You know how 3D IMAX films work, and steal the polarized glasses from the theater because they’re cool
  • Make computer programs that generate frequencies from 20-20,000 hz
  • “Pwn” all physics tests
  • Crash the Junior Stay Awake Athon and calculate how loud the DJs speakers are in decibels
  • You own any of the following items
  • Charge a capacitor to full capacity and then short it out to make that cool spark and pop sound.

Junior Stay-Awakeathon

Tonight was awesome. I am so jealous of the junior class for having a Stay-awakeathon. We were supposed to have one sophomore year, but everything gets taken away from us. Anyway, last year at our class meeting, everyone was so angry about losing the junior prom, that they overreacted to the idea of a stay-awakeathon. Instead we had a really crappy junior dance/ ring night that no one went to anyway.

After the LEO concert was over, Jess and I decided that we weren’t leaving the school until we “visited” the juniors and went on the jumping castle. So anyway, we got permission to enter and completely crashed the party. It was funny because we really stood out – all dressed up and the only seniors there (except Tom who visited for a bit). Here I am in a shirt and tie playing like a little kid on the jumping castle! w00t! After that I proceeded to play DDR (and sucked majorly), followed by some volleyball (woot because – I didn’t suck) and badminton (I didn’t suck either!). Then I and stuffed my face with all the food there. The awesome part was that all of the chaperones were very nice to us and even said let us stay the whole night (I had to go anyway, so it didn’t really matter). Actually, there was one person trying to throw Jess and I out but I don’t mention names here, but s/he left before we did and higher authority had no problem with us staying. I even donated money to the junior class because it isn’t right to just crash and be a freeloader… But yeah, I spoke to a lot of juniors and teachers, chilled there for a while and just had a good old time. If I didn’t have to get up early the next morning, I would have stayed. But I got to talk to a lot of cool people and it by the time I said bye to everyone it took me like 20 minutes to get out the door.

Good times…

Last Day of Classes

Today was my last day of classes because I will be starting my internship Monday. I had my last final and am finished with everything (except one essay, which I really don’t feel like doing). The past two weeks were uber boring because in every class we literally did nothing (so many kids were missing because of WISE and APs). It’s strange knowing you don’t have to go to classes anymore, especially this early in the year. Don’t worry though, I’ll be in school Fridays just to hang out there to take care of some remaining work.

School LAN Party

This is awesome. Without mentioning names, someone hid TrackMania Nations on the share drive and we had an über LAN party during programming class. At the height of it’s popularity, there were about 10 people connected, which was cool for a while until the server started crapping out. And here’s why:

Doing some simple math, the game is about 300MB. So each time it is launched, it has to be loaded from S:\. Lets estimate that only 100MB of that 300MB got loaded. By the time we loaded a few levels, we’ll add on another 20MB. When all 10 players needed to load the same level, the server kind of blew up and lagged badly, so everyone’s game froze and we stopped playing. I’ll bet we sucked up a few gigs of bandwidth for this. And also, we kind of lagged up the entire school for 20 minutes. Oops. And the share drive kind of sucks because it consists of old hardware. So now we have to limit connections in the game (or play a less intensive game)

Last semester, the admins emailed our teacher and told him that we were using way too much bandwidth in class. Let’s see how long it takes them to notice now.
