Trouble on Mars

Never send anything to Mars. It’s a big waste of money. Every exploring thingy that was sent there to explore and search for life stopped responding to mission control. The latest European “Beagle” was supposed to have landed already and should have sent a signal telling that it did. This never happened, and it is probably lost. In 1999, NASA sent a Polar Lander to explore – it disappeared and lost communication. Also, in the 1970s, there was a Soviet lander that was sent and it failed after sending 20 seconds of data. Everything that goes there gets destroyed. People should learn to stop wasting money.

There are two possibilities for the repeated loss of communication. 1. The landers used Microsoft communication software. or 2. There are things on Mars destroying them. Scientists are full of shit. They say the recent Beagle probably landed in an area with bad terrain and can’t find a signal. This is possible, but with today’s technology, there is no reason why all three things should fail. Watch out for Mars because there may be things there screwing around with our equipment and blowing up our shit.

Stuff

Ok, people are begging for an update. Two things. I finally got sound on the old IBM, not that you care. Second, January 4th is fun. Why? The day we’ve all been waiting for. Brand new Curb Your Enthusiasm season!!! Tune in January 4, 2004 at 9:30 PM on HBO… That’s basically it for now.

Why Nextel Phones Suck

Did anyone ever notice that Nextel phones suck? They have four decent ones: The I90, I95, I730 and I733. Compared to Sprint or Verizon’s choice of phones, these are all bad phones.

The main question… How come Nextel phones are so expensive and shitty? Verizon has many color phones that are as cheap as $100. They also have camera phones that are still relatively cheap. In the meantime, Nextel has one decent black and white phone: the I90. (Which isn’t even on Nextel’s website. Did they discontinue it?) Anyway let’s move on to the next similar phone: the I60, which is a piece of shit. A Nextel I60 is $100, an I95 is $225, an I730 is $250 and an I733 is $400 (these are suggested retail prices). Also, take a look at an I95, It is a bulky clunking, giant piece of shit. Meanwhile a thinner, smaller color Verizon (or Sprint) cameraphone can be as little as $125. Nextel is not even close to having a camera phone. God help them if they make one because it will be $800.

Anyone who takes economics can figure this one out. Well, I don’t even take economics but I still know the principle. MY POINT: The reason why Nextel phones are so expensive is because Motorola monopolizes the market. Therefore, if you want a Nextel, you’re stuck with a Motorola phone. If you don’t want a Motorola, it’s tough shit, and you wouldn’t be able to get a Nextel. Since there is no competition (all Nextels use Motorola phones), they can charge crazy prices. Now Verizon has many phone manufacturers, such as LG, Sanyo, Motorola etc. Since there is competition, the prices must be low so people can choose the best value for the least money. A color Motorola TI720 is much, much cheaper then the Nextel Motorola I733.

I have nothing against Motorola. Their phones are great. In fact, If I changed companies I might as well get another Motorola, but the difference is that it will be much cheaper. I am just pissed that they monopolize the Nextel market and are so expensive. Nextel is still backwards with their phones and needs to improve drastically.

Here’s something that could be a whole new post but I’ll write it here because it’s similar. I’m sort of dissatisfied with Nextel right now. The service is excellent and clear, but has a very limited area in the United States. Also, it would be nice if there was roaming. I might go to Verizon next year…

Recent Weeks (One Rambling Post)

Yes, I still remember that I have a website. And I realize I haven’t updated it in a while.

Basically the last few weeks were busy. Not only is there schoolwork, but I had to spend hours restoring my laptop again. See, when you start a computer and it says “Invalid VxD dynamic link call to device #3 service B, your Windows configuration is invalid, run setup to correct problem” and then immediately shuts off, there is a major problem. (P.S. Windows Sucks) Anyway it probably was the RAM but I formatted the hard drive anyway. Now I can’t get sound or modem support because IBM is gay and decides to combine the sound card and the modem into one device and puts on gay software that conflicts with Windows. Then Verizon DSL goes nuts for two days with really shitty speeds (almost like our crappy school network, but nothing is that bad – pretty bad though. Anywho…) I couldn’t upload files to this site due to slowness.

Moving along to the school reasons why I couldn’t update this site… In Spanish, I was expected to take an entire test on a chapter that was taught hastily in one day (because the teacher was out one day and I was out another). After I took that I had to make up other tests and stuff I got 100 on. Also it’s impossible to get a 90 or better on a Critical Lens (I don’t think one person has), but I gave up on that a while ago. Basically If you receive an 89, its equivalent to a normal teacher’s 98. (Hence me getting all 98s last year – and I’m using the same format this year)

Anything else. Oh yeah. Operation Smile was tonight and there were people shooting wax projectiles at us. Then they threw snow at the car as we were driving away and followed us to Friendly’s. Anyway, a very busy weekend ahead. So sorry for the long post. I must be boring.

Sorry for the big ramble. It must look like a blob of shit.
